Coffee improves aerobic performance study finds.
A recent study published in the journal Nutrients has found that coffee improves performance while cycling in both men and women. Although caffeine and exercise have been studied in the past multiple times, usually the caffeine studied is in solid form. There aren’t a a lot of studies that test what the more common forms of caffeine such as coffee can do on performance. Prior research also shows a difference between how men and women respond. This study wanted to test the effect of coffee in both men and women. Ingesting coffee providing 3 mg·kg of caffeine in the form of coffee improved 5 km cycling time trial performance in men and women by a similar magnitude, which suggests that active men and women respond similarly, and positively, to coffee ingestion prior to exercise.
