A recent study published in the journal Science Immunology made an unexpected finding when during a trial on the ketogenic diet. The researchers found that the ketogenic diet helped a group of lab mice fight the influenza virus much more effectively than a group of mice that were on a high carb diet. They found that the ketogenic diet stimulated a group of T-Cells in the lungs that enhanced mucus production. The increase in mucus helped the body trap the flu virus thus improved the survival rate.
