Sciatica Relief
What is sciatica?
Sciatica is a description of a symptom, which can have a few different causes. Sciatica describes the symptom of pain that radiates down the leg. You may also feel pain in the lower back or buttock region. It could come with some numbness or tingling in the leg. There may also be some weakness.
Causes of Sciatica
Herniated or Bulging Disc – A slipped or ruptured disc in the lower spine can press on the sciatic nerve, leading to pain, numbness, and tingling.
Vertebral Subluxation– This is when a spinal bone misaligns and irritates a nerve.
Spinal Stenosis – Narrowing of the spinal canal, often due to aging, can put pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Piriformis Syndrome – The piriformis muscle, located in the buttocks, can tighten or spasm, irritating the sciatic nerve.
Degenerative Disc Disease – Wear and tear on spinal discs over time can lead to inflammation and nerve compression.
Muscle Imbalances – Weak or tight muscles, particularly in the core and lower back, can contribute to nerve compression.
Pregnancy – Increased weight, postural changes, and hormonal shifts can lead to sciatic nerve irritation.
How do we fix sciatica?
First thing is to figure out the cause. Depending on what is causing it will determine what needs to be done to fix it. You may only need a spinal adjustment. You may need an adjustment and soft tissue work, possibly some exercises. That is why we get such great results, we take the time to figure out what is going on.
